macuco

in the long form „multiple alternative culture collective“ is an association active in Vienna, Lower Austria and transnationally. The central concern is to bring together artistic expressions and socio-political topics. Since 2016, the association has supported people in implementing their project ideas in the field of art, culture and youth education. macuco emerged from the need for a structure that serves as a catalyst and network hub for mutual support, knowledge transfer and exchange.

Depending on the size of the project, macuco’s working method alternates between closed and open formats, using a variety of didactic, methodical and theoretical approaches that promote participation and self-empowerment. A key concern is to increase the accessibility of such services by proactively reducing financial and discrimination barriers to participation (for example, by collecting free donations rather than fixed prices or exclusive offers for LGBTIQ * people).

macuco actively networks and cooperates with regional and transnational organizations, associations, NGOs, NPOs, informal groups and initiatives in various fields.

in der Langform „multiple alternative culture collective“ ist ein Verein der in Wien, Niederösterreich und transnational aktiv ist. Zentralen Anliegen ist, künstlerische Ausdrucksformen und gesellschaftspolitische Themen zusammen zu führen. Der Verein unterstützt seit 2016 engagierte Menschen beim Umsetzen ihrer Projektideen im Bereich Kunst, Kultur und Jugendbildung. macuco entstand aus dem konkreten Bedürfnis nach einer Struktur, die als Katalysator und Netzwerkknotenpunkt der gegenseitigen Unterstützung, des Wissenstransfers und des Austausches dient.

Die Arbeitsweise von macuco wechselt je nach Projektgröße zwischen geschlossenen und offenen Formaten und bedient sich dabei verschiedenster didaktischer, methodischer und theoretischer Ansätze, die der Förderung von Partizipation und Selbstermächtigung dienen. Ein zentrales Anliegen ist es dabei, die Zugänglichkeit der entsprechenden Angebote zu erhöhen, indem proaktiv finanzielle und diskriminierungsbedingte Hürden für die Teilnahme abgebaut werden (beispielsweise durch das Erheben freier Beiträge anstatt von Fixbeiträgen oder durch exklusive Angebote für LGBTIQ*-Personen).

macuco betreibt aktive Vernetzung und Kooperationen mit regionalen und transnationalen Organisationen, Vereinen, NGOs, NPOs, informellen Gruppen und Initiativen in unterschiedlichen Bereichen.

Macuco is accredited as a Sending, Hosting and Coordinating organisation in European Voluntary Service (EVS) / European Solidarity Corps (ESC) – part of the European Union’s Erasmus+ program.

Since october 2018 Macuco runs a year long EVS project „Bridges: Enabling Tolerance and Diversity through Culture Work“, focusing on strengthening art/culture, youth work, LGBTIQ+, human rights, anti-racist, pro-feminist aspects in Vienna by building bridges in between communities on a transnational level as well as in the town.
