Zinecamp will make it possible to get to know the Zine (= small homemade magazine) format. We will get to know different forms of zines production together. We will talk about the history of Zines, stories in Zines and use the time together to start new projects or implement our own ideas.
Zines offer the opportunity to independently publish your thoughts and ideas, view of the world and related (political) conditions. They provide space for points of view that are not (or not sufficiently) presented in the mainstream media. Zines are a format that explicitly allows sharing, use of material and creative interaction with existing ones.
The project week sees itself as an emancipatory, thus mutually empowering and promoting space in which learning together and cooperative, mindful work is possible. Working language will be German and English. The Zinecamp is an uplifting closed workshop in which we spend a week as a small group (max 18 people). In this week we are learning everything related to the format as a group. Finally, we will present the results of the work process on Saturday (01.09.). We will do the Open Zine Day by hosting workshops that make the world of Zines accessible to others. Together we will give interested people an introduction and insight into the world of zines.
The period gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of zines. We will look at the history of the zines in detail, how it have evolved from fan-fiction supplementation to the means of countercultural expression of movements like RiotGirrrl and Punk to artistic DIY media. The daily structure will be divided into joint work, free work and workshops, in total 7-8h per day.
In the course of the first working phase, the participants will produce their own or cooperative zines, depending on their interests. In addition, the joint work process will be recorded in the form of a docu-zine.
Proposed schedule of the project week:
Inputs and content are prepared jointly by the project preparation group. The exact timetable will then be determined on-site by all participants.
Daily: until 10h breakfast buffet / 10h common start in the day, state of things round, day plan, exchange / 14h-16h lunch and lunch break / 20h dinner
Monday: Arrival until midday / Afternoon Introductory Circuit, getting to know each other & Input to the story of Zines / Mini-Zine Session 1
Tuesday: Getting to know each other and exchange / Input & exercises for writing and writing techniques / Idea collection for own zines / Workshop on zine techniques / Cinema
Wednesday: work on projects / workshop on layout & graphics & drawing techniques / preparation for the public event on the weekend / ZineStories – reading session 1
Thursday: input to copyright and creative commons / exchange on production and distribution of zines/ zine archives / work on projects
Friday: Completing Zine Projects / Zine Stories 2 / Preparation for Open Zine Day/ Feedback & Debriefing Workshop Weekly Program
Saturday: Joint implementation of the public program for Open Zine Day and party.
Sunday: Zine brunch and in the evening final feedback-session and departure.
HOW TO APPLY
To participate, you do not need any prior knowledge. Your financial contribution to Zinecamp is a voluntary donation. But you should be able to be there for the entire period. Das Zinecamp ermöglicht es, das Format Zine (= kleines selbstgemachtes Magazin) kennenzulernen. Wir werden verschiedene Formen der Zines-Produktion kennenlernen. Wir werden über die Geschichte von Zines, Geschichten in Zines sprechen und die Zeit zusammen nutzen, um neue Projekte zu starten und/oder unsere eigenen Ideen umzusetzen.
Zines bietet die Möglichkeit, Gedanken und Ideen, die Sicht auf die Welt und die damit verbundenen (politischen) Bedingungen selbstständig zu veröffentlichen. Sie bieten Raum für Standpunkte, die in den Mainstream-Medien nicht (oder nicht ausreichend) präsentiert werden. Zines sind ein Format, das ausdrücklich das Teilen, die Verwendung von Material und die kreative Interaktion mit bestehenden ermöglicht.
Die Projektwoche versteht sich als ein emanzipatorischer, also gegenseitig ermächtigender und fördernder Raum, in dem gemeinsames Lernen und kooperatives, achtsames Arbeiten möglich ist. Arbeitssprache ist Deutsch und Englisch. Das Zinecamp ist ein Workshop, in dem wir eine Woche als kleine Gruppe (max. 18 Personen) verbringen. In dieser Woche lernen wir in der Gruppe gemeinsam alles, was es mit dem Format auf sich hat. Abschließend werden wir die Ergebnisse des Arbeitsprozesses am Samstag (01.09.) vorgestellt. Wir werden den Open Zine Day mit Workshops durchführen. Gemeinsam werden wir Interessierten eine Einführung und Einblicke in die Welt der Zines geben.
Das Camp gibt die Möglichkeit, in die Welt der Zines einzutauchen. Wir werden uns die Geschichte der Zines im Detail ansehen, wie sie sich von der Fan-Fiction-Ergänzung zu den Mitteln des gegenkulturellen Ausdrucks von Bewegungen wie RiotGirrl und Punk zu künstlerischen DIY- entwickelt hat. Die tägliche Struktur wird aufgeteilt in gemeinsame Arbeit, freies arbeiten und Workshops, insgesamt 7-8 Stunden pro Tag.
Teilnehmende werden je nach Interesse eigene oder kooperative Zines produzieren. Darüber hinaus wird der gemeinsame Arbeitsprozess in Form einer Dokuzine festgehalten.
Vorgeschlagener Zeitplan der Projektwoche
Inputs und Inhalte werden gemeinsam von der Projektvorbereitungsgruppe vorbereitet. Der genaue Zeitplan wird dann von allen Teilnehmer_innen vor Ort festgelegt.
